1. Who we are
SnapVent is operated by [Company legal name], [Registered business address] (“SnapVent”, “we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
SnapVent is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc., which operates Facebook and Marketplace under its own privacy policy.
2. What we collect
Your account
Your email address, and your name if you give it. Sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito; we never see your password.
Your photos and listings
The photos you upload, the listing SnapVent writes from them (title, description, price, condition, category and other details), and any edits you make. To price listings in your currency, we record your device's language and time zone when you create a listing.
Location data is removed from your photos. The phone app strips EXIF data, including GPS coordinates, on your device before upload. The web app re-encodes photos in your browser, which does the same; the one exception is a format your browser can't open (such as HEIC outside Safari), which is uploaded as it is — the copy that is analysed and posted has its metadata removed either way.
How the extension's fill went
When the Chrome extension fills a Marketplace form, it reports which fields it filled or missed and why, how long it took, and the extension and Chrome versions. We use this to keep the fill working when Facebook changes its form. The extension does not read your Facebook account, messages, friends or any page other than the Marketplace listing form, and only runs there when you click a listing.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form: your name, email address and message. To limit abuse we keep a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself.
Technical information
Our servers keep request logs (including IP addresses) for security and troubleshooting, for up to 30 days.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. If you switch it to the dark theme, your browser remembers that choice on your device; it is never sent to us. The SnapVent web app uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in.
3. How we use it
- To provide SnapVent: analyse your photos, write your listings, and fill the Marketplace form when you ask.
- To keep it working and secure: fixing the fill when Facebook's form changes, preventing abuse.
- To reply when you contact us.
4. AI processing
Your listings are written by AI models. To do that, your photos (resized, with metadata removed) and listing details are sent to:
- Amazon Bedrock (Amazon Web Services), our primary provider, which runs the models inside AWS.
- OpenRouter, used only when Bedrock is unavailable, which passes the request to the model provider we have selected.
We send this data only to generate and complete your listing. Each provider's handling of it is governed by its own terms.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that run SnapVent for us:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, photo storage, sign-in, and AI processing (United States).
- Neon — our database (United States).
- OpenRouter and its selected model provider — AI processing when Bedrock is unavailable.
Listings reach Facebook only when you publish them yourself, under Facebook's terms. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
6. Where your data is stored
SnapVent's data is stored in the United States (AWS and Neon, US East). If you live elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, with the safeguards the law requires.
7. How long we keep it
- Photos: deleted when you delete their listing. Photos from uploads you never finish are deleted after a day. Otherwise photos are kept for up to 12 months.
- Deleted data may remain in backups for up to 30 days before it is gone for good.
- Your account and listings: until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
- Contact messages: as long as we need them to deal with your message.
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, access is restricted to what each part of SnapVent needs, and location data is removed from photos before they are analysed. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act and US state laws such as the CCPA — you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@snapvent.app or use the contact form. You can delete a listing and its photos yourself at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Children
SnapVent is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email before a significant change takes effect.
12. Contact
